FAQ

Questions

Are there icons for git and version control?

Yes. Git is part of the developer tools set. So are code, terminals, APIs, databases, testing, packages and file types. Close ideas like branch, merge and commit each have their own picture. They stay easy to tell apart in a sidebar or a commit list, even at 16 px.

Do the icons include file types?

Yes. File types are in the developer tools set. Each one is a plain document shape with a clear mark. We leave brand logos out of the library because of trademark risk. The marks are different enough to tell files apart in a long file tree. They match the folder and file icons in the core set.

What if I cannot find the icon I need?

Try another word first. Search looks at names, synonyms and tags across the whole library. If the icon is still missing, ask for it on the contact page. Tell us the word you searched and where you want to use it. We add icons every month, and requests help us pick what to draw next.

Can I use developer icons in a commercial project?

Yes, in the free styles. Regular Rounded, Regular Sharp and Solid are open source under MIT, so you can use them in a developer tool, in client work and in products you sell. The other twelve styles are Pro, a subscription with its own terms. Keep the copyright notice with copies of the files.

How do I find the right developer icon?

Open the icon browser and search for branch, commit or terminal. Search checks names, synonyms and tags, so a related word usually finds the same icon. Use the developer tools category to limit results to this field. Only approved icons appear, and we add more every month.
